THE season got under way for Malvern's Velo Club Sevale's season last Thursday, the first event being a 5.5-mile time trial on the Hanley Swan course.

The poor weather conditions didn't have much effect on the turnout, 19 riders facing the time keeper, or on Gavin Poupart's winning time of 12min 4secs, relegating the current course record holder Rob Wood into second-place.

Nick Stinton was the fastest club member, coming fourth with a time of 13min 16sec.

Results: G Poupart 12.04, R Wood 12.10, A Bird 12.18, N Stinton 13.16, S Wilson 13.18, V Page 13.27, M Amery 13.30, S O'Toole 13.40, B Boswell 13.41, D Preece 14.22, T Knight 15.04, K Evans 15.11, R Taylor 15.22, S Price 15.56, D Bridges 16.02, T Moseley 17.35, R Mayall 17.38, M Bradford 18.00, A Bradford 18.52.

The next event is a 10-mile time trial using the Chance Lane course, on Thursday (April 13), starting at 7pm.

Competitors must be a member of a cycling club affiliated to the CTT, but temporary membership of the Velo Club Sevale can be taken out on the night.
