Upton news in brief . . .

n TWO propane gas cylinders and fittings were stolen from the Royal British Legion Club at Hanley Swan on Thursday night, March 30. The 5ft cylinders, weighing 47kg each, were taken from a security cage at the side of the building. Anyone with information about the theft should call police on 08457 444888, quoting 210S/030406.

n pupils at Longdon St Mary's Primary School raised £129.95 for CLIC Sargent and the Roald Dahl Foundation when they took part in Readathon, a national sponsored reading challenge. The money raised will go to local children and young people with conditions such as cancer and epilepsy.

n A family treasure trail will take place at Clive's Fruit Farm in Upton over the Easter holiday. The aim is to wonder round the orchards collecting clues to spell a word, which can be exchanged for a prize at the farm shop. The trail costs £1.50 per person or £4 for a family of four. Clive's recently put up more table-height strawberry tunnels after successfully introducing them last year.

n VOLUNTEERS are being sought for the RSPCA shop in Court Street, Upton. The shop is an important source of funds for the RSPCA's Worcester and Malvern branch. Call Pam Booker on 01905 841354.

n A CRAFT fair organised by the Three Shires Craft Guild takes place at Upton Memorial Hall over the Easter weekend. The fair runs from Saturday to Monday, April 15 to 17, between 10am and 4pm. Admission is free and refreshments will be available.
