OVER 300 people filled St Peter's to welcome the new vicar to Powick. The Rev. Sue Irwin takes over the united benefice of Powick and Callow, and Guarlford and Madresfield with Newland, from The Rev. David Nichol, who has moved to Holy Trinity, Link Top.
A service of induction and installation was conducted by the Bishop of Worcester, Rt Rev. Dr Peter Selby, assisted by the rural dean, Rev. John Barr and archdeacon, Rev. Joy Tetley.
There were representatives from Churches Together in Malvern and many clergymen and women from the Malvern deanery. Joining parishioners from across the benefice were visitors from Oxon, Bucks and further afield.
On Sunday, the Palm Sunday service at St Peter's will be led by The Rev. Douglas Walker.
Kathy Stone revisited Powick Guild for an exercise session with balls and cardboard rolls. Tea was served by Dorothy Applebee and Dorothy Denton and raffle prizes were won by Ros Mason, Edna Jenkins and Rita de Boer. The speaker on Tuesday, April 11 will be a representative from Acorns Children's Hospice. New members are welcome to the community room, Powick Parish Hall at 2.30pm.
Don't miss the exhibition of old photographs of Powick and Callow End at the village hall, Callow End, tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday, from 10am-6pm. Entry is £1 and refreshments and a raffle are in aid of hall funds.
