A VICAR who camped out on the roof of her church to raise funds for repair work performed her last service on Sunday.
The Rev Janet House delivered her last sermon at the Holy Trinity and St Matthews Church, Ronkswood, in front of her loyal congregation.
The 60-year-old took her last trip to the pulpit before retiring after seven years at the Lichfield Road church.
Other activities she was particularly proud of included running the after-school clubs at the then Ronkswood Junior School.
Mrs House said: "There is no requirement when priests can go but I've decided that my time has come to retire.
"I shall certainly miss the people of Ronkswood. They are great people."
The vicar slept on the roof of her church in June 2002 to raise much-needed funds towards repair costs of more than £30,000. Her night braving the elements raised £3,000 and the work was carried out in 2004.
The church will remain without a vicar until a replacement is found.
