THE European Commission (EC) and the Department for Education and Skills has recently launched a competition for schoolchildren to design a poster 'celebrating the importance of European integration'.
I believe parents will be appalled to learn that their sons and daughters are being used to further a political cause.
This competition is highly suspect and I would ask all teachers and head teachers to consider its legality in the light of Education Act 1996 which specifically prohibits the promotion of partisan views on any subject and requires that any political views presented to pupils shall offer a balanced presentation of opposing views.
This is yet another example of the EU attempting to influence public opinion in the UK, by subliminal propaganda rather than open and honest debate. To target schools simply demonstrates how desperate they are and parents should be seriously questioning their schools.
