A REDDITCH man who walked out of Hewell Grange open prison to go home has had another six months added to his sentence.
Spencer Price, aged 27, of Dolben Lane, Winyates, pleaded guilty at Worcester Crown Court to escaping from lawful custody.
He had been sentenced to six years in jail in 2002 for robbery and kidnap, said Miss Susan Cliff, prosecuting, and had been sent to serve the last part of his sentence at the open prison near Redditch.
But on March 12 he just walked out and was at large for a month before he was arrested at home.
Richard Bond, defending, said there had been no aggravating features such as violence or damage to property.
But Judge David McEvoy QC said Price had broken the trust of people who had sent him to an open prison by walking out. He must serve at least half of the extra six months.
