ON Thursday, May 18 in Morton Stanley Park, there was a gathering of teenagers celebrating the end of exams.
Due to the inclement weather, they moved to the underpass between the park and Feckenham Road.
It is natural to enjoy the elation at the culmination of many months of study and its inherent pressure.
What was left behind after their departure was in excess of 100 bottles and cans, together with cartons and many plastic bags.
These were thrown into the bushes, up the bank or just left on the floor of the underpass.
Not only are they liable to a fine under the Litter Act but several bottles were broken, causing a hazard for people and animals.
Surely one or two of those attending could show a modicum of social responsibility and bring along a large bag for their rubbish.
