REDDITCH shoppers should look to the skies in the Kingfisher Centre over the next few months as the roof undergoes a massive transformation.

Work started this week on a brand new £400,000 roof in Worcester Square, which will replace the existing outdated structure.

Centre director Ian McLelland said: "This is really going to make a huge difference to the look of the Kingfisher Centre. It will have a far more up-to-date appearance.

"The smoky glass currently in place will be replaced by coloured panels so it will have a much brighter look."

The work is expected to last for eight to 12 weeks and shops will not be affected.

Also in the centre, work has already started on the new Apollo cinema above Wilkinsons.

It is hoped to be completed by December 1 and the facility will open to the public within days.
