TALENTED Stoke Prior artist Kate Rees 'drew the crowds' when she performed the opening ceremony of Avoncroft Art Society's summer exhibition in Bromsgrove.

The event, held at Stoke Heath Community Arts Centre, attracted many visitors throughout the weekend.

Showcasing a collection of paintings and creative work produced by society members, the exhibition included contemporary and traditional designs ranging from oil paintings, hand printing and photography through to pottery, textiles and calligraphy.

As owner of the established Kate Modern art gallery, based in Hanbury Road, Kate said: "I am very proud to have unveiled this year's summer art exhibition, which illustrates the enormous talent of the Avoncroft Art Society members. The mix of styles and mediums used has given this exhibition a very individual approach to art and it is refreshing to see such a diverse interpretation of designs.

"As a local artist I'm especially keen to be involved in developing the arts culture throughout Bromsgrove and the surrounding area."
