JUST two points now separate Exhall & Wixford from top slot after the Church Lane side beat leaders Bretforton by six wickets on Saturday.

And with a trip to basement side Broadway this weekend, Exhall have top spot back within their grasp.

Steve Kerby proved the star with both bat and ball against their title rivals.

Bretforton batted first on a very hot day but found runs hard to come by against some excellent bowling.

John Simpson took 3-32 from 10 overs but Kerby proved a class act, taking 2-14 off nine overs as the visitors were dismissed for 181 -- some 500 runs short of a challenging total.

In reply, Exhall lost the wickets of skipper Simon Hollands and Charlie Mulraine cheaply before the in-form Matt Gwynn (54) and Kerby (80no) helped the home side to a match-winning 182-4.

Bidford warmed up for their derby clash at Alcester & Ragley with a 58-run victory over visitors Wellesbourne.

The Big Meadow side made a shaky start losing a number of early wickets. But the middle order came good and steered Bidford to a respectable 185-9 from their overs.

Nick Nason then proved to be the star with the ball, taking five wickets as Wellesbourne were dismissed for a paltry 127. Peter Taylor and Chris Wyatt also bowled well to keep the runs down.

Alcester went to leaders Catherine-de-Barnes and suffered a one-wicket defeat.

The visitors reached 219-7 only for their hosts to sneak home, scoring 220-9 in reply as the game reached a nail-biting conclusion.

Temple Grafton handed out a 184-run mauling to Wellesbourne II in Division Three. After posting 259-8, the home side were then skittled out for just 75 as they struggled to cope with the Grafton bowlers.

Elsewhere in Division Three, Great Alne claimed a four-wicket victory at home to Norton Lindsey II, the Henley Road side scoring 165-6 in reply to the visitors' 161 all out.

Cookhill continue to set the pace at the top of Division Five after beating Tanworth II by 10 wickets.

Having lost the toss and been asked to field, Cookhill never let their hosts settle into any sort of rhythm. The home side struggled for runs and at the close were restricted to just 133-5 -- 35 of those coming from extras.

Neil Shuttleworth was excellent with the ball, taking 2-13, while Simon Edmunds took 2-25.

In reply, Cookhill raced towards the victory target with Billy Gill hitting a rapid 79 and skipper Billy Harris 42 as the win was secured inside just 19 overs.
