AFTER last season's roller-coaster campaign in the Midland Combination Division Two Droitwich Spa manager Tom Goss is hoping for some stability in the 2006/2007 campaign.

In the previous season an inexperienced Spa side, which had lost a lot of its older players, endured a tough start and had to wait until November for its first win.

However, with the manager expecting almost all the players back he is looking for a more steady campaign this time around.

He said: "We may lose a couple of the younger lads to Worcester City but that has yet to be sorted out. If they move on to Worcester good for them, we want to see players at this club go onto a higher level.

"But I'm sure that almost all of the players that we had last season are coming back. That's great because after a rollercoaster last season I think we need some stability this time around."

Spa start first team training on July 1 and have arranged home friendlies against Thimblemill on July 29 and Barnt Green Spartak on August 5.

Goss was also keen to stress he has learnt his lessons during his first season as a manager.

He said: "My first lesson is win before November! Obviously none of us want to go through that again because it wasn't good. But apart from the first three games we played some nice football but didn't get the results.

"I'll always measure performances rather than results but obviously we'd like to get a win early on.

"We lost so many players before the start of last season but I hadn't realised how de-stablising that was to the team.

"To be fair the players rolled their sleeves up and got us out of trouble. I think if all our players perform to the best of their ability we should have a good season."
