Bromsgrove 3rd XI won by three wickets

STRONG batting by Tom Hope and Ian Miller guided Bromsgrove to an impressive win over Old Edwardians in the West Midlands 3rd XI Premier League on Saturday.

Hope (49) and Miller (70) were in excellent form with the willow, as they guided their side to victory against Old Eds at St Godwalds.

The Boars won the toss and put their opponents into bat. They made the breakthrough when Paul Husbands trapped G Worthington lbw.

Stephen Clarke had opener T Dean caught by Husbands for 26, as Bromsgrove took control of the game. Old Eds rallied through Hunjan, but he was bowled by Husbands and caught by Harry Smith when on 56 runs.

Once Hunjan was dismissed Old Eds's batting order collapsed to 178-8. Husbands was the pick of the Boars' bowlers with 3-41, while Clarke took two wickets and Dorian Dentith, Steve Hazelden and Smith took one each.

Hope gave his side a strong start with 49, before Hunjan bowled him. Miller continued to accumulate the runs and was bowled for 70 by Mohammed. The platform provided by the openers allowed Phil Duffy (19), Stephen Clarke (10) and Jame Whelton (13) to steer Bromsgrove to 181-7 in the 48th over.
