Bike yobs are blight on town life

Well, it now seems that this issue has moved on a little further. These motorbikes are regulars on my housing estate at Waterside Grange, a new development on the canal side of Puxton Marsh.

The bikes now seem to buzz around the estate at will most days. They seem to have a circuit that consists of Clensmore Street, over the canal bridge on to the estate, around Admiral Way, down the canal path and over Lime Kiln Bridge and back again.

On other days they ride around the estate through Oxbow Way on those new "go peds". None have safety equipment or any regard for themselves or other road users.

Several calls to the police at Kidderminster have resulted in nothing.

This morning, as I walked to town along the canal path, these yobs were sitting with their bikes in plain view setting fire to fly-tipped rubbish by Lime Kiln Bridge. A call to the police on my mobile phone resulted in me being put on hold for over five minutes with the usual "your call is important" phone message.

While I understand that the police could have been busy dealing with other types of crime and may even have been out to find these yobs without me knowing it, the problem must be stopped.

If the police have spoken to these yobs, how come the bikes have not been confiscated. I doubt there is any insurance, V5 or driving licence for any of these bikes or their riders.

The local council seem to be unable to lock a gate which may solve the problem.

They seem to have spent taxpayers' money installing a stall-type gate along the canal at Lime Kiln Bridge next to a large metal gate. The gate, however, is left open so any motor vehicle, let alone motorbikes, can be driven down the canal side. This baffles me as it has been like this for some weeks.

This is all anti-social behaviour and it blights the town of Kidderminster, Puxton Marsh, canal path and housing estates on both sides. When will the police and council react?
