TOMORROW is the first day of the local branch of the standing conference of women's organisation campaign to clean up the streets of Redditch.
The branch's anti-litter week has the full support of Redditch Council's public works committee. Councillor S Hill, speaking at Monday's meeting of the committee, said they had already stressed their deep disgust at the amount of litter strewn in the streets of Redditch.
"It rests in the people of Redditch," he said, "to make the town look cleaner.
"When people travel from Birmingham on the bus they get a long strip of paper tickets.
"Surely the bus company could help keep the town cleaner by using normal sized bus tickets?"
Councillor Parton pointed out receptacles for tickets were provided in the bus but people did not use them and that perhaps the bus company would bring into use a new machine which issued smaller tickets.
