A CYCLE worker from Crabbs Cross was summoned for riding a bicycle furiously, to the danger of the public, in Evesham Road, Astwood Bank.

Police Constable Jones said defendant James Wells had his head bent over the handlebars and was going at the rate of 16 or 17 miles an hour.

There was no bell on the machine. Several children who were playing in the road had a narrow escape from being run over.

Defendant denied he was riding furiously. He said he had only had the bicycle for six weeks. He said he had not got hold of the handlebar when he passed the policeman. Fined 2s 6d and 4s costs.
