POLICE are appealing for information after a teenage girl was shot with an air rifle in Winyates.

The incident happened at about 7pm last Saturday as the 16-year-old was in Winyates Centre. She felt a sting on her leg and later discovered the pellet wound. She needed medical attention to have the pellet removed.

Pc Stuart Bough said: "We are appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident to get in touch as soon as they can.

"Clearly this had the potential to be more serious than it was and we would urge parents to speak to their children about the dangers involved."
