BEWDLEY Town Football Club will be playing West Midlands Regional League Premier Division football at Ribbesford Meadows next season.

It quashes rumours they had missed the deadline for ground improvements.

The club were forced to groundshare with neighbours Stourport Swifts last season while their own home was brought up to scratch.

Spokesman Paul Lacey said the revamp of the stadium was at an advanced stage and had been approved by league officials.

"It's important to quash rumours of us not playing in the West Midlands Regional Premiership due to the ground not being ready in time," said Lacey.

"We have had confirmation from the league, now they have seen the final plans, that we will be playing there this year."

Work to improve Ribbesford Meadows will include the £5,000 resurfacing and drainage work on the main pitch and six banks of floodlights.

There will also be a new 140-seat stand high on the bank, along with new changing rooms, showers and a hospitality suite.

Meanwhile, with first team and Under-18s re-joining the reserves back at Ribbesford Meadows, Bewdley are keen to recruit match day volunteers.

They need food and drink stewards to help in the bar before and after matches and in the hospitality suite during games.

Bewdley also require a clubhouse manager and match day assistants to help with gate control, programme sales, ball collection and general cleaning up duties. All enquiries should go to Wayne Payton on 01299 403297 or Craig Payton on 07973 533004.
