MEMBERS of Evesham Rowing Club turned out in force at Stratford-on-Avon's Annual Regatta last weekend when they returned home with five wins.

Chris Sumner, back home from university for the summer, beat a strong competitor from Falcon BC to get through to the final of the men's Senior III Single Sculls.

Rowing against an opponent from the home club, Sumner put on a good spurt in the last 200 metres of the final to record an easy win.

It was a good day for the junior girls as J13 quad of Nikki Pitchford, Katy Syvret, Danni Symonds and Aimee Rutherford, coxed by Katie Baldwin, got the better of Ross BC in the final after an earlier victory over Burton Leander.

There was another quad success for the J14 crew of Sam Edwards, Ruth Whyman, Colleen Penrose, Chloe Bryan and cox Jorden Parsons.

Having seen off crews from Gloucester and Llandaff in the heats, the girls still had enough left in the tank to fend off strong opposition from Avon County to win by three lengths.

Penrose and Bryan also raced three times in the J14 Doubles where they overcame crews from Bideford and Stratford before meeting Gloucester in the final.

At this late stage of the day, the girls were starting to tire but they still managed to win the final against Glou-cester with more than a length to spare.

Crewmate Whyman then hopped into her single for a straight final against a Ross opponent who was easily brushed aside.

Tash Symonds and Amber Grant, rowing a Double at J15, won a race against Ross to reach the final where they were beaten by a length by a Bideford pair.

J13s Holly Baskerville and Jorden Parsons got the better of Burton Leander in their semi-final only to lose out to a crew from Ross in the decider.
