A STIFF middle order boosted Badsey after they had lost three early wickets at Chester Road last Saturday.

Facing one of their Worcestershire County League Division Four title rivals, the Ballards Park men were in trouble at 46-3 after being asked to bat first by Kidderminster Victoria.

However, opener Michael Powell (47) and George Cowley (39) embarked on a rescue act with a partnership of 93 before Andy Mabb-ett's hard hit 83 that included eight 4s and six 6s lifted the total to 266-9.

Sam Thomson helped Mabbett add 97 for the sixth wicket but the former was made to suffer with the ball.

He conceded 59 runs off his nine overs but Cowley completed a fine all-round show with five wickets for 29 runs off nine overs that swung the match Badsey's way.

The hosts had no answer and were all out for 207 in the 42nd over as the winners moved up to second in the table 15 points adrift of Barnards Green.
