IAN Suckling hit a superb century to help steer Evesham to a tremendous six-wicket success last Saturday.

Chasing Penn's 249-8, the left-handed opening batsmen received superb support from Scott Marshall who was dismissed just 11 runs short of three figures.

The second wicket pair took Evesham to within 34 of victory but Shahid Saeed didn't manage to see out his side to victory.

And, when Suckling finally fell for 116, it was left to Mike Granacki and David Mullett to guide the Avon Street men to their target.

Earlier in the afternoon, the visitors had lost three wickets for 16 runs after being put asked to bat.

Alex Harrison collected a brace of victims and Adam Brookes one but Nightingale and Dhillon embarked on a rescue act that was continued down the order.

Missing Neal Radford, Evesham turned to Jon Gregory and Gavin Spares to peg back the Penn batsmen and they did it successfully with Spares taking 2-46 off ten overs and Gregory's 17 overs costing 74 runs.

Saeed picked up two wickets late on before the hosts set about recording a second successive Birmingham League win.

Will Bailey was the second team's star scoring 115 in his side's 274-4 against Solihull Blossomfield who were then dismissed for 141 with Bailey claiming 5-21 and Stewart Langstone 5-49.

Sam Smith (58) assisted Bailey in a second wicket stand, while Gareth Howman was similarly helpful with a unbeaten knock of 40 late on.
