GRAEME Hick has given the strongest indication yet that he intends to play on for Worcestershire after his contract ends in September.

The veteran batsman, who is in his 23rd season playing at New Road, admits he still feels fit enough to play at this level and has lost none of the hunger for compiling big runs.

He said: "I enjoy batting and I still feel disappointed when I get out.

"In a situation like yesterday, I was on 139 and I knew we were still going to bat for another hour or so, the opposition are down and I walk off feeling as disappointed as I did 15 or 20 years ago.

"I enjoy batting for long periods of time and it is an easy time to bat when you are in that sort of situation.

"There have been no definite decisions on next year. The club and I have spoken and we have both agreed to monitor it as the season goes along and I need to make a decision at the end of the season and, more importantly, so does the club. The club is bigger than any individual.

"Hopefully, if I am still enjoying my cricket as I am at the moment and contributing like I am to the team and I would like to carry on.

"Hopefully the club will feel the same.

"I feel fine fitness-wise, I work hard during the winter and I try and maintain myself during the summer to keep things ticking over.

"My back plays up now and again but I do my exercises and keep on top of that. I want to keep on playing."
