ANDY Preece was delighted with Worcester City's last-gasp 1-0 victory at Gainsborough Trinity but admits there is more work ahead to escape a relegation scrap.

Adam Webster's stunning injury-time overhead kick at the Northolme secured City their long-awaited first away win of the Nationwide North season.

But while Webster's winner lifted the burden of City's away-day jinx, the St George's Lane club require more good results to move away from the bottom end of the table.

A clutch of relegation rivals -- Alfreton, Hednesford and Redditch -- also clinched maximum points on Saturday, leaving City still two points safe from the drop-zone.

"I'm delighted to get the win," said player-manager Preece. "It's been a long time coming away from home. But I'm still not happy with the position that we are in at this moment in time. Our position is not acceptable and we need more results like this.

"When you are in the position we are in, three points are extremely vital, especially with the games in hand as well. Any points we get when others aren't playing is a bonus.

"People sometimes say Redditch have won and Alfreton have won. So what? We cannot worry about other teams. We can only worry about ourselves and if we keep winning games, we'll have no worries."

Preece hailed his side's never-say-die attitude and was pleased with the contribution of striker Mark Danks, who made an impressive debut alongside Webster.

He added: "We managed to get the ball in the back of the net and got what we deserved. We kept going, kept believing and Webby got his reward in the end.

"Mark did really well. He worked hard and he was sharp in and around the box. He had a lot of big guys around him but he kept at it. I thought Dennis Pearce was outstanding."
