ANDY Preece praised in-form Mark Danks following the striker's fourth goal in four games against Lancaster City on Saturday.

Danks scored for the third successive match when giving City a first-half lead in the 2-0 Nationwide North win at St George's Lane.

Adam Webster also netted his 15th strike of the season after the interval as City climbed out of the league's bottom eight for the first time since August.

The forward duo continued to build an effective partnership and player-manager Preece has been delighted with the pair.

"Mark has come in and done a great job," said Preece. "We'd hoped he would do that. He has probably surpassed expectations scoring four in four.

"Webby is scoring as well, so it's a pleasing partnership and we are starting to move the right way."

City completely dominated and Preece admits his side were thwarted from emerging with a greater margin of victory, not because of bad finishing but due to Lancaster goalkeeper Tony McMillan.

He added: "Their goalkeeper's had a fantastic game. We needed a second goal, but he kept them in it. We were always in the ascendancy and it was a matter of when, not if, we got that second goal.

"We were well on top. It was a great result and the way we went about it pleased me."
