JAI Stanley's Worcester City future should be finalised later today.

The 27-year-old is the only St George's Lane player still to accept his new deal for next season.

City manager Andy Preece wants to resolve Stanley's future before he goes on holiday later this week.

"I'm speaking to Jai today," said Preece. "So that will be sorted one way or another. Hopefully, he will decide to stay with us."

Midfielder Stanley -- a £10,000 club record signing from Moor Green in November 2003 -- played a prominent role in City's end-of-season play-off bid.

Arguably the most creative player in City's ranks, Stanley will not be short of potential suitors, but Preece is eager to keep him.

Although Stanley's City stint has been blighted by three serious knee ligament injuries, which all required operations, Preece be-lieves the playmaker's problems are behind him.

Preece added: "Jai is the sort of player that can change a game.

"He's fit now and itching to play all the time, because he's been out for such a long time in the last two or three seasons.

"Injuries have been a nightmare for him. I think if he signs, we've then got a really hungry player that will be determined to do well. He wants to make up for lost time.

"Jai will only get better if he keeps his knee strong and strengthens the muscles around it. Unless he's very unlucky, that same injury should not happen again."

Preece confirmed that fellow City midfielder Nick Colley has agreed a deal for next season.

Former Tamworth winger Colley flourished in a central midfield role last term alongside Tom Warmer and George Clegg.

Preece added: "With the system we play, Nick had to find a new position and he's adapted really well in the centre of midfield. He's improved a lot this season. I'm pleased he's staying."
