STUART Watkiss is left with yet another summer headache following the resignation of Kidderminster Harriers youth team manager Shaun Cunnington.

The ex-Harriers midfielder, who re-joined the club in October 2003 to coach Aggborough's youngsters, stepped down yesterday for "personal reasons".

Cunnington, 39, a former player at Wrexham and West Bromwich Albion, was a front-line runner for the Harriers manager's job last October when Jan Molby resigned, but a torrid five-game spell as caretaker-boss scuppered his chances before Watkiss got the nod.

Watkiss is now on the hunt for Cunnington's replacement, with an announcement likely to be made within the next three weeks.

"Shaun came and spoke to me and has come to the decision he wishes to leave," said Watkiss.

"Shaun runs a very successful restaurant business outside of football and wishes to spend more time concentrating on this."

Meanwhile, Harriers' pre-season friendly at Bromsgrove Rovers has been re-scheduled for tomorrow evening as the delay over the club's takeover looks set to be resolved. Watkiss was forced to field youngsters in Saturday's friendly over Bewdley Town because his six announced signins have yet to sign contracts.

But if the planned takeover by Kidderminster Consortium is completed by tomorrow, Watkiss can give run-outs to his new recruitments.

Watkiss added: "I'm not going to field a team of kids against Bromsgrove like we did at Bewdley. I have had talks with the chairman and he is hopeful the takeover will be concluded on Wednesday.

"Should this be the case then the new players can play a part in the game and get some action under their belts. Training is all well and good, but they desperately need matches now."
