KIDDERMINSTER Harriers gained a confidence-boosting victory when they beat local rivals Wolves 2-1 in a pre-season friendly at Aggborough.

This was Stuart Watkiss' team's third pre-season win in a row against a mixed Wolves side which included former Harriers goalkeeper Paul Jones.

First teamers Kenny Miller, Carl Cort and Colin Cameron were starters, while George Ndah was on the bench.

Kidderminster took the lead when former Worcester City player Michael Blackwood beat the Wolves defence to cross the ball for Simon Russell to head the ball into the net.

Five minutes later it was 2-0. Iyseden

Christie ran onto a pass from Wayne Hatswell and lobbed the ball over the head of Wolves' goalkeeper Jones.

The Molineux men hit back almost immediately, however, when Miller crossed for Cort to head the ball past a static John Danby.

The second-half was not as competitive as the first for the 2,161 crowd.

Mid-way through the half Hatswell, O'Connor and Blackwood all went off for Harriers be replaced by Burton, Hurran and Sheldon. Russell and Christie later exited for triallists Penn and Moss.

Daryl Burgess did well to stop a shot that was going across the face of the goal from Wolves substitute Chris Cornes just before it reached the head of the diving Kenny Miller.

Just before the end, Wolves sub Ndah almost grabbed a late equaliser but Danby dived at his feet to grab the ball.
