STUART Watkiss has warned his men Crawley Town are in a false position at the foot of the Nationwide Conference table.

Kidderminster Harriers, lifted by a 2-1 weekend success at Gravesend and Northfleet following two straight home defeats, visit the Sussex side tonight (7.45).

The Harriers boss was impressed with Crawley in their 3-2 defeat at Aldershot earlier this month.

And, in hotshot Daryl Clare, they have a two-time Conference winner with three goals in five games after signing from Boston.

Watkiss, set to keep faith with the same starting line-up, said: "I have to say I'm amazed Crawley are bottom of the league with the way I saw them play.

"But then I've seen enough of this league already to know every team is going to be taking points off each other.

"In Clare, they have probably the best finisher in the Conference, a lad who is tried and tested in this division."

Of course, Watkiss will be using that statement as something of a challenge to his own goal machine Iyseden Christie.

The ex-Mansfield man has bagged five in as many games and is looking like he could live up to his pre-season promise.

Watkiss admitted: "We always knew Iyseden could be a handful at this level. I think he still has some way to go in terms of fitness but he's getting stronger with every game. It's important he keeps his head down and continues to work hard."

Watkiss altered the strike-force for the Gravesend game with Taiwo Atieno dropped to the bench so he could use two wide players up front in Simon Russell and Michael Blackwood.

He explained: "It was just the shape I wanted to get back to -- a 4-3-3 with two wide players and one down the middle.

"I felt we were just a little lop-sided before. The system seems to suit us away from home but I will be looking at it before our next home game with Tamworth on Saturday.

"After those two poor performances at home it was important we stopped that run. Gravesend was a big game for John Danby in goal and one of the saves he made was genuinely world-class. I think the spine of the team was very good.

"Now we have to look to kick on. It's imperative we come back from Crawley with something -- even a draw wouldn't be a bad result, though we will be trying to win it."

Midfield general Martin O'Connor (knee) will be rested, while Wayne Graves is set to return in a behind-closed-doors friendly with Cheltenham tomorrow.
