DEFIANT Stuart Watkiss has vowed not to throw the towel in after seeing Kidderminster Harriers' season continue on a downward spiral.

Harriers suffered their third straight home defeat on Saturday with visiting Tamworth's 1-0 triumph being their first win since the opening day of the season.

Aggborough has hardly been set alight by Kidderminster's performances in the Nationwide Conference this season and supporters have voiced concerns at their side slipping into the bottom half of the table.

Watkiss admitted: "All managers are under pressure when they lose games. That's the nature of the business we're in.

"We've had a disappointing three weeks. We've lost four out of five but we had a pretty solid, decent start up to that point.

"I'm going to roll my sleeves up and try to put it right. Hopefully, the players will have the same attitude. That is what we've got to try to do.

"It's not going to be easy. It's going to be about strength of character for myself and the players. But we have to stick together.

"We have to try to be united to have any chance of getting out of the slump we're in. You can talk and talk but it all comes down to next Saturday now and hopefully a much-improved performance."

Harriers, who bid to reverse the slide at home to high-flying Morecambe at the weekend, are not in a financial position to sign further loan players, according to Watkiss. He added: "We're batting on with the players we have."
