MARK Yates is looking to make it three league wins out of three when he takes his Kidderminster Harriers side to basement boys Southport tomorrow.

Despite 'Port being anchored to the foot of the Nationwide Conference table with just 20 points from 25 games, Yates is insisting it will be a tough game.

Tomorrow's opponents are staging something of a resurgence under manager Liam Watson and have picked up four points from their last two league games.

The mini-run included an impressive 0-0 draw at eighth-placed York on Tuesday evening.

Boss Yates said: "Southport have had a couple of good results lately and I am sure they will be right up for it when we get there.

"We'll go there with the right intentions and I will be looking for the same performance as against Carlisle on Tuesday night.

"I thought we played really well at Brunton Park and if we can play like that, and add a few goals in too, we will be hard to beat.

"We are going to keep taking each game as it comes and hopefully we will start to climb the table."

Southport have proved to be a bogey team for Harriers so far this term, having knocked them out of the FA Cup fourth qualifying round 1-0.

They also claimed a 1-1 draw when they came to Aggborough in August. It took an 84th-minute equaliser from the now-departed Wayne Hatswell to deny Southport all three points.

Scoring goals has been a problem for Southport this season, but they have been bosted by the return from suspension of striker Steve Daly in time for the Harriers game.

Attacker Neil Robinson is also set to figure after coming back to form following an injury lay-off.

Yates added he was still hopeful of bringing in a couple of players before the end of the transfer window on Tuesday.

He said: "The substantial funds that were mentioned when I was appointed here were for players' wages, not for spending on transfer fees, but I am certainly looking to bring in a few players before the transfer window closes.

"However, I won't bring in players for the sake of it. I will only sign someone if I feel he will strengthen the position he plays in."

There have been no further bids for Harriers' prize assets, skipper Mark Jackson and top scorer Iyseden Christie.

Meanwhile, Harriers' long-serving physio and general manager Jim Conway has been suspended by the club.

Conway, who has been at Kidderminster for more than 20 years, was sent home this week but chairman Barry Norgrove has declined to reveal the circumstances behind the decision.

Yates' former Cheltenham Town team-mate Chris Banks stood in as physio against Carlisle.

Norgrove said: "Jim Conway is on leave until further notice and we will be having further meetings with him."
