THERE can have been no greater series of cricket matches since Ian Botham almost single-handedly snatched victory over the Australians in 1981.

This time two new cricketers are the stars of the 2005 Ashes victory - all-rounder Andrew "Freddie" Flintoff and batsman Kevin Pietersen who clinched the series with his fine century in the final test at the Oval.

Every match in the series, bar the opener which Australia won all too easily, was nail-biting to watch live as an England fan.

However, it is far more enjoyable watching the matches on this three DVD series with the hindsight of knowing the victorious result with England reclaiming the Ashes for the first time in 18 years.

There are also many special features for the dedicated cricket fan such as Simon Hughes' analysis, the greatest performances with bat and ball and, my personal favourite, a special goodbye to Richie Benaud after 42 years of commentating in England .

The DVD series would make a perfect Christmas present for any sports fan or even that really unpopular relative in Australia. To order a copy, log onto www.ddhe.co.uk AG
