THE Synth City tour arrived in style at the Civic Hall and proved good music just doesn't go out of fashion - even if it is more than 20 years old.

From the opening lines of Tell Me When to the last bars of Together In Electric Dreams, the band were in really electric form.

Phil Oakey looked fantastic, having ditched his famous lop-sided locks for a shaven head, and performed with ease.

His strong stage presence was ably supported by Susan and Joanne who gave a fantastic version of Love Is All That Matters without Phil.

All the hit songs were there - All I Ever Wanted, The Lebanon, Open Your Heart, Louise, Mirror Man and the massive hit Don't You Want Me - and the audience was left dancing in the aisles.

The set design, which was a lighting net flashing images behind the band, added an extra edge and worked especially well during Mirror Man.

I felt really great at the end of the night which proved that 80s music, like vintage wine, just gets better with age.
