MARK Yates is calling on Kidderminster's disgruntled fans to get behind the team and become Harriers' twelfth man for today's visit of play-off chasing Stevenage Borough.

The manager is well aware of the fact that it is up to his players to give the fans something to cheer about, but he believes a buzzing Aggborough atmosphere will help banish the recent home horror shows.

In their last two home games, Harriers have shipped nine goals and the final whistle has been greeted with a chorus of boos on each occasion, but Yates is desperate for a change of fortune when Graham Westley's men come to town.

He said: "The bottom line is we've got to give the crowd something to get excited about -- the players know that -- but a bit of vocal support from the fans does help the lads.

"It is a two-way thing though. We can't expect the fans to get excited over nothing; we need to give them something to shout about.

"A few years ago, when I was playing for Kidderminster, there was always a big battle between us and Stevenage. I am expecting them to bring a lot of supporters and there should be a cracking atmosphere inside the ground and hopefully we can make it difficult for them with plenty of noise from our fans."

Yates, his coaching staff and the players are all determined to put their recent home woes behind them.

He added: "The lads have worked hard at what I want them to do in training this week. We are certainly going into the game looking to win and I have set up a team that is, hopefully, capable of doing that.

"We have got six big games left this season and 18 points to play for and I want to win as many of them as possible to ensure we finish as high as possible in the league."
