LUKE Reynolds is battling to be fit to lead the line for Kidderminster Harriers when they travel to York City tomorrow (3pm).

The striker, who arrived at Aggborough from AFC Telford via a brief spell at Market Drayton in the West Midlands League Premier Division, made a goal-scoring debut against Aldershot.

But Reynolds is struggling after limping out of Saturday's goalless draw with Stevenage.

However, Harriers boss Mark Yates' right-hand man, Neil Howarth, is impressed with the impact the hard-working 26-year-old frontman has had.

And Howarth is hoping to see him forge a successful partnership with on-loan striker Jon Newby.

Reynolds, who played alongside Howarth at Telford, was prolific at the New Bucks Head Stadium and his eye for goal left a lasting impression on the Harriers assistant.

Howarth said: "When I was at Telford, Luke came in and scored about 20 goals in 25 games which is a terrific strike-rate.

"He is the kind of player who is very enthusiastic and he doesn't let defenders and goalkeepers settle.

"Against Hereford there were three or four times where he conjured up shots out of nothing and he certainly knows where the goal is."

Now Harriers hope Reynolds will be fit for the trip to York as his hunger for goals is exactly what they need to be successful at KitKat Crescent.

Howarth added: "He struggled against Stevenage and in hindsight perhaps shouldn't have played because he wasn't quite fit enough. We're hoping he will be OK but we'll have to wait and see.

"York have been flying over the last 10 or 15 games and -- along with Grays -- they are one of the form teams in the division. They've got as good a chance as anybody of going up through the play-offs."
