JONNY Harkness has followed Michael McGrath in staying at Kidderminster Harriers for the next 12 months.

The left-back, who scored a goal and provided a string of assists with deadly set-pieces, has signed a new Harriers deal.

Harkness, 20, joined from Walsall in January and has done enough to impress boss Mark Yates.

Wide midfielders Michael Blackwood and Simon Russell are still to agree terms as is promising striker Luke Reynolds.

Yates continues to look for a new goalkeeper along with players to fill several other key positions.

A previous holder of the jersey, John Danby, has been signed by Mark Wright at League Two club Chester City on a two-year deal.

Danby was released at the end of the season after losing his place to Danny Lewis who was also let go.

City chairman Stephen Vaughan said: "Mark targeted this player (Danby) when he re-joined us in February and now the season has finished we have moved swiftly to snap him up."

Ex-Harriers midfielder Ben Davies is set to leave Chester at the end of his contract with Yeovil, Northampton and Bristol City all believed to have made offers.

Forwards Andy White and Taiwo Atieno, both on loan with Kidderminster last season, have been released by Notts County and Walsall respectively.

Atieno was a Stuart Watkiss signing but Yates brought in White and may be interested in pursuing the big target-man.

Meanwhile, goals from Scott Eaton (two) and top scorer Mitch Butler earned Harriers a 3-1 victory over Gloucester City in the Midland Floodlit Youth League Cup final.

The under 18s have enjoyed a successful season, finishing second in the Premier Division and winning the Worcestershire Youth Cup.
