ROMSLEY & HUNNINGTON v BARNARDS GREEN

A first outright WCL division one win for Barnards Green, thanks to five destructive overs from Jez Clarke.

Green were sent in first and there were decent scores all the way down, after a slow start.

Rich Williams got underneath a pull shot and was caught by mid-wicket running back for 12 but Jez Clarke made 48 before being stumped for 96-2 off 24 overs.

He was followed in the next over by Paul Drinkwater for 25 and two more quick wickets went down.

Tim Clarke and Adam Binks proceeded to push the score along much quicker, reaching 164 when the former was caught at long-on.

Enter the captain, Chris Smedley, who with Adam Binks set about the bowling.

They averaged nearly eight runs an over, reaching 240 by the 49th when Binks was caught at long-off just two short of his 50.

The last over produced ten more runs to leave Smedley on 35no and a total of 250.

Romsley & Hunnington's openers started briskly, reaching 59-2 in their first 10 overs, wickets falling to Sam Spencer and Rob McCard.

That became 107-4, with a second for McCard and one for Tim Williams.

Jez Clarke then came on to bowl his spin. In his third over, he took three wickets, in his fourth he took two more - all with the score on 113.

Clarke finished this man-of-the-match effort with 5-19 in five overs.
