Barnards Green SUNDAY I V BEWDLEY

A DEPLETED Barnards Green were sent in, Liam Paddock and Jack Wheeler putting on 88 for the first wicket.

Paddock went for 20, followed by Wheeler, who tried to plant ex-Green player Jono Boult out of the ground once too often, falling for 48.

With only half the overs gone, and a long tail, Green fell to 140-5, batsmen falling around stand-in skipper Jez Clarke.

Joined by stand-in all-rounder Marc Jones, he put a valuable partnership together, keeping wickets intact and putting away the bad ball.

Jones' 16 helped Clarke to a hard-earned 87 (two sixes, 11 fours) and there were good late runs for Spiers (33) and Bell (16), as Green posted 304.

Bewdley went for it for it from the start, A Halkon hitting 32, but there was a wicket for Spiers and plenty of bowling options.

Bell (9-3-3-23) was the pick of the bowling, along with partner Harris (5-0-2-27), who had a shot at a hat-trick after a smart caught-behind and clean-bowling Oldnall.

When Bell sent Boult back to the pavilion clean-bowled for only 9, the game looked to be the Green's and Tom Clack snatched the last wicket.

Bewdley were dismissed for just 126 in the 30th over, losing by 178 runs.
