AFTER last season's first league honours, Leigh and Bransford Badgers FC are undergoing major expansion.

The club starts the season in its new ground, Ralfs Field Stadium, which it has been developing over the last 18 months.

It boasts two mini-soccer pitches, three training grid areas and a small-sided games area.

Further improvements are planned and the club has permission for a pavilion.

A record ten teams will compete in the Mercian Festival Junior Football League, from ages u-8 to u-15, with some spaces still available, particularly at u-10 and u-13 level.

A new u-7s girls' development squad is being run from September, joining the long-standing u-7s development squad. Four to six-year-olds are welcome, regardless of ability, and coaching is by FA-qualified staff.

The club boasts a record number of qualified coaches and administrators in post.

Senior coach Bosko Medakovic said: "These are really exciting times ahead for this great little FA Charter Standard club, which is still to celebrate only its fifth anniversary next month.

"A lot of dedicated voluntary staff have put in much effort to have got this club where it is at present."
