The final event in the Malvern and District Orienteers' League was held in blistering heat on British Camp and over 100 people attended, completing nearly 70 runs.

Competitors came from Spain, France, England, Scotland and Wales and the high point was a stunning victory on the Green by James Wilkinson, of Castlemorton. Having dominated the Orange all season, he has plainly decided it is time to move on up through the ranks.

Sarah Goodbody produced a tour-de-force on the Yellow course while Paul Mountain won the Orange. No surprises on the Blue, where Jason Howell continued to dominate by an astonishing ten-minute margin.

League results are now finalised and everyone is invited to the grand prize-giving, chasing sprint and score event at Old Hills, Callow End on July 1, starting at 10 am.

There was success for MADO members further afield.

Malvern men Tom Horton and Matt Scrivens stormed to victory on the A Course of the Lowe Alpine Mountain Marathon in Scotland, covering 60kms of mountain terrain over two days in 11hrs 48 mins - half an hour ahead of their nearest rivals.

Chris McSweeney, of Powick, was a member of the Sleep-monsters team which finished third in the Bristol Rat Race Urban Adventure.

There was trophy success at the West Midlands Orientee-ing Relay Championships at Baggeridge Country Park, near Dudley, for Robert Farrington and Daniel Hartmann (intermediate men), Rosemary and Heather Hartmann and MADO coach Lizzie White (intermediate women) and Lynden Hartmann (senior women).
