SIR - I feel I must respond to John Hilton's latest rantings. Firstl, I am an engineer working in a specialist field of civil engineering. Almost every day, I deal with project managers managing construction sites some small some very very large. I know that a properly managed site with people still carrying on with their functions can work as I said in my previous correspondence. I know this from experience. John on the other hand appears to be a bit of an armchair expert making sweeping statements about a subject that he appears to admit he knows little or nothing about. With regard to Olympic-style sports facilities, let's be clear - most people get jobs based on academic qualifications. Very few get jobs purely on a sports derived qualification. And anyway, the county council appears not to be able to afford such extravagant facilities.

BILL DAVISON,

Spokesman for CHRISS.
