AS ONE player left Common Road, another one is set to make a temporary return, writes Mervyn Collins.

Club captain Lee Knight is the man departing, while goalkeeper Dave Adey will replace the ineligible Karl Lewis for Saturday's FA Cup first qualifying round tie at Tiverton.

"Lee was the first player I brought in when I arrived here and he was a great leader," manager Dave Busst acknowledged.

"However, competition for places in defence has become tough and Lee has decided to pursue options elsewhere. It's all been very amicable and just having him back for pre-season was a bonus."

Knight has joined Alvechurch where Adey has been plying his trade this term after recovering from a couple of injuries.

The Midland Alliance outfit, for whom Lewis kept goal in a previous round, has agreed to release the experienced stopper for this weekend's clash.

Busst will be hoping his players can repeat the hard working display that brought a first home win last Saturday.

"The players responded well and the win has given everyone a lift," he admitted.

Tiverton have won just one game out of six since defeating the Robins 3-0 on the opening day of the season when United certainly had the better of the second 45 minutes after trailing by three goals at half-time.

"Their manager has drafted in a couple of loan signings and it's going to be another tough test," Busst admitted. "We were perhaps in awe of them last month but we've nothing to fear if we play like we did in the second half and show the same determination and effort that we showed last Saturday."

Stuart Hamilton and Gavin O'Toole are still sidelined, while Steven Hands is expected to get more matches under his belt with former club Studley.

If Saturday's mach ends in a draw after 90 minutes, the replay will take place at Common Road next Tuesday night, kick-off 7.45pm.
