Kidderminster Harrs Res 7, Evesham Utd Ladies 3

LOOKING to build on the previous week's impressive League Cup performance, United were brought back to earth with a bump on Sunday as third in the table Harriers ran out comfortable winners.

Defensive howlers brought about Evesham's downfall as the hosts were gifted at least four goals with the first leading to Kidderminster's second minute opener.

It was 2-0 eight minutes later but United's first serious attempt on goal after 17 minutes saw them reduce the deficit as Laura Westwood's long ball forward reached Sam Perry who coolly placed the ball over the advancing goalkeeper.

Hopes of a fightback lasted only three minutes when a cross from the right slipped through the hands of goalkeeper Mandy Upton and into the net.

United took a gamble and shuffled the pack by moving Sonia Crow between the sticks and bringing on their only substitute. However, this didn't have any immediate effect as a mix up between Crow and Charlene McLoughlin left a simple tap-in.

Harriers now eased off slightly and United came into the game more and Perry collected her second goal after 37 minutes.

After an even start to the second period United conceded another soft goal on the hour but the goal of the game arrived three minutes later when the ball arrived at Perry's feet fully 35 yards from goal and, spotting the keeper off her line, she sent in a glorious shot to complete her hat-trick.

That was as good as it got for the Robins as a two more home goals secured a seventh win in eight games for the third-placed winners.

Evesham will be hoping for better fortune when they entertain third bottom Leominster Town at Common Road on Sunday (2pm).
