Evesham Utd Ladies 3,

Malvern Tn 4 (aet)

UNITED lost Sunday's keenly contested Hereford and Worcester FA Challenge Cup second round tie to an extra-time strike.

Malvern took a seventh minute lead when Heidi Barlow's free-kick was headed out but fell kindly for Tracey Evans to rifle a volley past a helpless Mandy Upton.

United gave as good as they got as they tried to get back into the match and Becky Handy almost snatched an equaliser but her shot was touched away for a corner.

With the hosts playing some of their best football of the season, it came as no surprise when the equaliser arrived eight minutes before half-time.

Sam Perry received the ball in midfield and played it through for Lisa Tustin to send an exquisite lob over into the net.

Two minutes later, United took the lead and again Perry was involved in the build-up as she combined with Amy Summers who evaded a tackle to round the oncoming goalkeeper and guide the ball into the goal.

Malvern came out strongly for the second half and almost immediately Emma Parsons drove in a shot that forced Upton into a save. However, the keeper could only palm a free-kick into the air and Evans reacted quickest to head the ball home. This stung the home side into action and they regained the lead 16 minutes from time after Tustin's shot was parried and Summers knocked the rebound into the net.

Just when a first win over Town appeared on the cards, the visitors grabbed the equaliser to force the match into overtime.

Tustin was denied 12 minutes in but two minutes later the clincher arrived as slack home defending allowed Malvern to score a fourth.

United get an early chance for revenge when they visit Malvern's Langland Stadium on Sunday for a league match that kicks off at 2pm.
