FUTURE chairmen of Bromsgrove Urban District Council would have good cause to thank the town's Rotary Club for their gift of a new chain of office. The 42 inch long chain, comprising 26 links, was a gift to mark the authority's 60th anniversary and the Rotary's golden jubilee.
BROMSGROVE Rugby Club finally had a home it could call its own after 80 years. Club president George Whewell formally opened the new ground at Finstall Park, which was said to be one of the finest in Worcestershire.
RUBERY was set to benefit from new county council proposals to revamp the education system next year. Among the plans was a new two-form entry junior school and the conversion of Waseley Hills primary into a secondary modern school.
