WORRIED residents in the Bromsgrove village of Finstall cabled hurricane struck Barbados for news of their former vicar, the Rev Fry, who had taken up residence there a year ago. Their fears were allayed however, when the present vicar, the Rev Dicker, received a telegram to say he was safe and well.

GANGS of Teddy Boys intimidating young children in Bromsgrove prompted the father of one young victim to call for volunteers to mount patrols to protect them. He said the police were too busy on other duties to deal effectively with the ruffians. He also advised those who were afraid of the gangs to learn the self defence art of ju-jitsu.

THE Friends of Bromsgrove Hospitals, a group dedicated to raising cash to buy gifts for patients in four local hospitals, decided to extend their help to all in the urban district council area. The Friends had been formed three years ago and during that time had raised the splendid sum of £1,900. By 1960 the Friends hoped to have been able to buy every hospital in the area a TV set.

TO mark the 25-year association between the two concerns, the Austin Motor Company presented Bromsgrove High Street car dealers John Bryant and Sons with a plaque. Bryants had been founded in 1854 as a company making horse drawn vehicles, many of which were exported to India.
