BROMSGROVE'S planners had been dubbed spoilsports by a Birmingham model car club. Members had applied to use the new car park at Churchfields on Sundays to try out their vehicles, but had been refused. Councillors said the noise, which was likened to a chainsaw, would upset nearby residents and suggested the club inflict the nuisance on folk in their own locality.

THE death occurred of former Bromsgrove County High School, latterly North Bromsgrove, headmaster E J S Kyte as a result of a heart problem. He lived in Kidderminster Road and was aged 68. He had taught for more than 30 years and had held three headships during his career. He came to Bromsgrove in 1956 to succeed Dr Baron at the grammar school when it was in Stourbridge Road. Paying tribute, the present head William Bloomfield declared he was a 'highly respected man of music and letters.'

A BLUEPRINT had been published to ease Bromsgrove's future housing shortage for the next few years. It was proposed to develop land at the Oakalls, but the prospect of 80 acres of prime agricultural land in the green belt being built on was set to meet with opposition. As it was, both the county council and the government would have to agree to the proposals.
