A CENTURY of Bromsgrove history fell to the bulldozers as the 19th century almshouses in Stratford Road were demolished. The homes fell to the contractor's hammer after nearly a year's controversy. The almshouses were built in 1883 by the trustees of Bromsgrove Consolidated Charities and funded by the sale of The Poors Farm in Blackwell.
BROMSGROVE slimmers ignored their diet sheets and tucked into thousands of calories as a special once-a-year treat. Soup, roast pork with all the trimmings, Black Forest gateau, cream and cheese and biscuits were the order of the day at the Bromsgrove Slimming Club's eleventh annual dinner dance event.
BROMSGROVE Rovers gave Southern League Midland Division title contenders Trowbridge Town a run for their money, despite losing 1-0 at the Victoria Ground. The two teams slogged it out in an action packed game before Trowbridge knocked the stuffing out of Rovers with a 51st minute winner.
