CONTROVERSIAL plans to merge West Merica police with neighbouring forces are expected to be scrapped today.
According to reports, Home Secretary John Reid will drop proposals to reduce the number of police forces in England and Wales, which were the brainchild of his predecessor, Charles Clarke.
West Mercia Constabulary had long opposed the suggested merger with Staffordshire, Warwickshire and West Midlands forces.
