STOKE Prior parish councillors were to pay a visit to Field View boys' home in Brickhouse Lane. It was in response to a letter the council had sent regarding the bad behaviour of some of the boys who it was said were not delinquents, but who had suffered a deprived upbringing. It was hoped the visit would ease the problem.

SEVEN relatives of the five Rubery Territorials who had been killed by runaway tanks while at Tilshead Camp last August had a 45 minute interview with the Minister of War, Mr Head. They were accompanied by Northfield's MP Donald Chapman, who said later it had proved very unsatisfactory as the relatives were unhappy with the answers they had received to their questions.

HANBURY Cricket Club last season had a good year on and off the pitch, the annual report revealed. The club had £15/17/5 in the bank and already 34 matches had been arranged for the forthcoming season. Vernon Horton was the president, the Rev Birch chairman and B Banham would captain the side.

BROMSGROVE Rovers clocked up their biggest win of the season when they beat Shrewsbury Reserves 6-0 at the Victoria Ground.

THE current dry spell meant firefighters from Bromsgrove were being kept busy dealing with numerous grass fires in the district.
