BROMSGROVE folk, keen to know the result of Saturday's Boat Race in London, would head for the Messenger office in High Street. The paper had made arrangements for the result to be telegraphed and it would be posted in the window for all to see.

GREAT excitement was caused in Bromsgrove on Saturday night when the rider of a motor bicycle took his machine to Mr Cound's shop in High Street to be filled up with fuel. The machine suddenly ignited and a quick witted passer-by had the presence of mind to dash forward and drag it into the street. It was extensively damaged.

AN extensive gorse blaze on Walton Hill, Clent, lit up the night sky and could be seen for miles around. The glare served to guide firemen, called to tackle the blaze caused by the dry spell, to the exact location.

AN idea to extend the present tram system from Birmingham to Rednal appeared to be gaining ground. At present visitors from the city who flocked to the Lickeys in their thousands at holiday times had to travel by train to Barnt Green then face a long walk to Rednal.
