THE layout for Sanders Park in Bromsgrove had been drawn up by the district council's engineer Freddy Goodman and approved by the authority. The scheme would cost around £30,000 and would include a boating lake, mini-golf course, memorial rose garden and play apparatus. Battlefield Brook would be diverted to follow its original route over a waterfall in Watt Close. The Messenger noted that no timescale had been set and it might take several years to come to fruition.
PARISHONERS at St Godwald's Church, in Aston Fields, were eagerly looking forward to the launch of its Friends organisation, an occasion set to go down in history. The aim was to bring together in fellowship those who cared for the church, its fabric and its environment. Already 100 people had signed up.
COUNTRY dwellers around Bromsgrove were to benefit from a money saving scheme by the rural district council to buy discounted galvanised refuse bins. The council planned to sell them on to ratepayers after adding on ten per cent. The total cost would be 37/2 (£1.86) per bin.
